Int’l Day of Persons with Disabilities Marked in DPRK
A meeting took place at the Central Youth Hall on December 3 to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
Present there were Jon Chol Hi, chairman of the Central Committee of the Korean Federation for the Protection of the Disabled, officials of relevant units, persons with disabilities and their families, working people in Pyongyang, diplomatic envoys and staff members of Pyongyang-based foreign embassies and overseas Koreans staying in the homeland.
At the meeting, speeches were made by persons with disabilities enjoying a happy life thanks to the policy of the Workers` Party of Korea and the State on the protection of the disabled and a video dealing with the successes made in protection of the disabled this year was screened.
Then, the members of the Korea Art Association of the Disabled gave a performance “We Love Our Country” to mark the day.
Put on the stage were colourful numbers, including male chorus Rays of Affection, dance Tondollari, female solo I Love My Mother and mixed duet Voice from My Heart.
The performers vividly represented well the cheerful and lively appearance of persons with disabilities who are bringing their hopes and talents into full bloom under the loving care of the WPK.
The performance ended with the song and dance Dear Father.
Prior to the meeting, the participants looked round the photos showing the happy life of the disabled under the most advantageous socialist system of the country.
