Non-Permanent Korean Sign Language Assessment Committee Meets
The 12th meeting of the non-permanent Korean sign language assessment committee was held at the Korea Economic and Cultural Exchange Company for the Deaf and Blind.
Present there were over 50 persons, including officials from the Central Committee of the Korean Federation for the Protection of the Disabled and the Ministry of Education and teachers from the Deaf Association of Korea, the Sign Language Interpreters Association of Korea and schools for persons with hearing impairment. They examined and decided on over 550 words and phrases describing the rapid development of the socialist country and its people-oriented policies.
The meeting served as an important occasion in putting the Korean sign language on a standard basis and making it contribute to the social and cultural life of persons with hearing impairment in keeping with the developing reality.
