As Roots for Education

Kim Kyong Bok at Wonsan School for Persons with Hearing Impairment is one of educators who have worked for the disabled pupils for decades, true to the Workers` Party of Korea’s policy on bringing about a radical turn in education.

Since she started her career to teach children with hearing impairment she has devoted herself for them.

In particular, she compiled two textbooks for children with hearing impairment and created many sign language words and introduced them in other schools while working as a member of the Korean Sign Language Assessment Committee for 15 years.

In the course of this she was honoured with the title of October 8 Model Teacher and awarded Order of Teacher’s Honour and Medal of Merit.
