Korea Marine Environmental Protection Fund
The Korea Marine Environmental Protection Fund (KMEPF) was established in September Juche 100 (2011) under the auspices of the government, with a view to promoting investment into and cooperation in the field of marine environment.
It works to build up the technique, equipment and materials needed for the disposal of pollutants from ships and restoration of environment while increasing the capacity of personnel in this field.
In 2015 the Korea Marine Environmental Protection Fund (KMEPF) contributed to laying material foundations for analyzing the quality of ship oil by helping the Marine Environmental Protection Centre (MEPC) to arrange analysis equipment. It backs the MEPC in developing the equipment and facilities including oil disperser and isolator needed to remove oil pollution.
It also works with international environment organizations including marine environmental protection bodies and individuals including overseas compatriots who are interested in this and willing to make contributions, cooperation and investment to the field. It takes part in relevant events including the one to mark World Maritime Day to stimulate the interest of organizations concerned.
It promotes cooperation with international organizations by keeping in touch with DPRK representatives in such international organizations as the United Nations Development Program and Partners of Environmental Management in the Seas of East Asia (PEMSEA) and renders support to annual projects in close contact with marine environment entities.
The Fund supports the Marine Environmental Protection Centre and other related bodies.
For the blue sea we live and utilize and for the fresh and rich marine resources to be handed down to posterity, we look forward to your deep attention and positive support.
