The State has consistently attached importance to the conservation of national heritage and made unsparing investment in the work, but many valuable national and cultural remains were plundered, robbed and destroyed by the outside forces in the past and there are still many historic remains to be excavated, reconstructed and repaired.

The Fund propels the work of repairing temple remains or newly providing Buddhist furnishings like Buddhist images, alms tables, wood blocks, candlesticks and thaenghwa (picture unique to Buddhism) in the interior of temples as well as repairing them.

The Fund is going to activate the excavation of historic remains and relics supporting necessary equipment, materials and funds to them.

Some of the excavation objects are as follows:

- Koguryo mural tombs in the areas of Pyongyang, Nampho and Anak County in Hwanghae Province;

- The eastern architectural group in Manwoldae, the site of Royal Palace of Koryo;

- Pyokran Island, the biggest trade port in Koryo;

- Yujom Temple, the remain of Koryo in Wolbisan-ri, Kosong County, Kangwon Province;

- Hyonhwa Temple, the remain of Koryo in Wolgo-ri, Jangphung County, North Hwanghae Province;

- Kwangtongbojeson Temple and Kukchong Temple, the remains of Koryo in Haeson-ri, Kaesong;

- Hungwang Temple, the remain of Koryo in Sambong-ri, Kaesong; and

- Etc.

The Fund is going to contribute in improving the display of historic relics by supporting history museums the materials like various glass, plastic, stainless steel, lighting fixtures and equipment for displaying relics virtually.

The State has planned to build Koguryo History Museum in the preservation area for the Mausoleum of King Tongmyong, the founder of Koguryo, and Koryo Museum in Kaesong, the capital city of Koryo, and is making preparations for these projects.

The Fund receives historic relics of Koguryo, Palhae and Koryo period which show the history and culture of those days and hand them over to museum to improve exhibition.

The Fund is laying up funds to support necessary equipment, tools and funds immediately when the historic remains, scenic spots, natural monuments are damaged from flood, forest fire and typhoon.
