Disabled Athletes Exalt the Country’s Honour
DPRK players won two gold medals and one silver medal at the ITTF Asian Para Championships 2025 held in China.
All events of the championships were fierce.
Kim Yong Rok competed in the event of MS7. The quarterfinals was the most difficult for him, as his rival was a Chinese player ranking second in the world.
He felt mental pressure, as he lost the first round, won the second and lost the third again. When the score was 10:8 in the fourth round, he looked at the flag of the country conspicuous among other national flags.
The moment, he felt strong affection for the national flag. He applied his special serving skills and third-ball-attack tactics, thus winning the fourth and fifth rounds successively.
In the finals he defeated his Chinese Hong Kong rival 3-1 and won a gold medal.
After seeing the competition, a member of the organizing committee of the championships said: The DPRK players have worked miracles. Maybe the Korean people are building a miraculous country admired by the world by dint of that mental strength.
