To Repay the Country’s Benevolence

Last year, DPRK players with disabilities won several gold medals in table-tennis events of international competitions.

Ma Yu Chol, technical staffer of the Korean Sports Association of the Disabled, made a contribution to their successes.

He himself lost one leg in an accident at the age of five.

He became a table-tennis player and coach. With a view to repaying the benevolent country which brought him up, he devoted his wisdom and enthusiasm to training the players.

His painstaking efforts were crowned with a brilliant success: Kim Yong Rok, Jon Ju Hyon, So Kwang Nam and other players won gold medals in international competitions and hoisted the national flag.

As they cherished ardent love for their motherland, they could overcome physical pain and extreme limits and burden in intense training and win victory in the competitions.

Still today, Ma Yu Chol mixes himself with them.
