In August Juche 49 (1960), when visiting a timber-processing factory, President Kim Il Sung said that there had been a custom in our country that a daughter-in-law had to set an individual table for her father-in-law, but now the whole family members including the daughter-in-law and the father-in-law were dining together because individual tables for elders were not made. He instructed that individual tables for elders should be nicely made and supplied.

   Stressing that we should respect the elders, he took a benevolent measure to make individual tables well that the daughters-in-law could set for their fathers-in-law.

   From olden times, it is a customary practice of the Korean people to respect the elders and fathers-in-law so they prepared individual tables for fathers-in-law. On the other hand, fathers-in-law find it a pleasure to be given individual tables set by their daughters-in-law.

   Later, this factory, bearing deep in mind the teachings of the President, produced many individual tables for the elders and supplied to families to keep alive the traditional customs of our people.
