Protective glue for art works newly developed
Recently, the research group of National Authority for the Protection of Cultural Heritage has newly developed the protective glue for art works.
Applying nanotechnology, it won the first place in the 34th National Festival of Science and Technology in 2019 and the second place in the National Nano Sci-tech Show-2019.
This product is superior in preventing discoloration and has the property of preservation from decay. The protective coating material has excellent weather durability, flexibility, adhesion capacity and transparency so that it does not cause any damage to ground materials of the objects like Korean painting, oil painting, red and blue painting and embroidery.
The protected objects can retain their colour 3~10 times under outdoor conditions and 50~100 years under indoor conditions when they are coated with the protective glue. Also, it can save much labour and cost as the period of restoration is prolonged and raise the artistic value of the protected objects.
It was introduced in several preservation objects like red and blue painting and thaenghwa (picture unique to Buddhism) of the Mausoleum of King Tongmyong and the Kwangbop Temple and contributes to the protection of precious national heritage of our people. The product is winning growing popularity.
