Genealogy of Toksu Ri clan newly preserved in Korean Central History Museum

Genealogy of Toksu Ri clan, which is a valuable historic relic donated by Ri Yon Hui living in Sansong-dong, Haeju City of the South Hwanghae Province, has been newly preserved in Korean Central History Museum.

It is a genealogy recording names and achievements of descendants of Ri clan from the 1st ancestor including Ri I (Ri Ryul Gok) who was a famous bureaucrat and scholar in 16th century.

The 11th non-permanent tangible cultural heritage evaluation committee including officials, professors and researchers of Kim Il Sung University, the National Authority for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and Academy of Social Sciences unanimously evaluated that Genealogy of Toksu Ri clan was a genuine and valuable historic relic.

According to the experts there are several genealogies of Toksu Ri clan and they said that from the 1st to 10th descendants are same in general but it is different from the next generations.

The front part of the newly preserved genealogy is same as the other genealogies but the next part is consisted mainly of direct descendants of Ri I (Ri Ryul Gok) and was proved that it is a unique Ri I’s genealogy.

Genealogy of Toksu Ri clan was handed over to Ri Yon Hui from her father nearly 30 years ago and she regarded it only as the genealogy of a family.

One day in the late 2018, a historical story Sinsaimdang was broadcasted in the Korea Central TV Broadcast which was about Sinsaimdang and her son Ri I (Ri Ryul Gok) who were the ancestors of Ri Yon Hui.

She stayed up all that night being grateful for giving prominence of her ancestors without forgetting whose faces are not familiar to the descendants.

After that she visited Soktam Kugok with the whole family and sobbed saying to ancestors about the legendary like story of her family which was born newly in the era of the Workers’ Party.

Later she called officials concerned and requested to present Genealogy of Toksu Ri clan to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un with fervent feelings of the whole family.

It is not only a thin book but it contains pure patriotism of Ri Yon Hui.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un took warm measures to preserve it in the Korean Central History Museum, to confer certificate of donation and to promote public awareness of her patriotic deed.
