Hakso Rock found by the Chairman Personally

Chairman Kim Jong Il visited Mt. Myohyang on May 19, Juche 70 (1981) and went up its Sangwon Valley along the climbing route with the officials.

Passing the Kumgang Pavilion in the valley, the Chairman stopped at a cliff standing like a folding screen.

The rocky cliff soared as if guarding a pool with clear water on a huge rock by a stream. Pine trees stretching fresh and green branches grew on the brink of the high cliff, while white clouds floated in the middle of the sky.

The Chairman said the rocky cliff was quite magnificent, forming peculiar scenery with a clear pool and green pine trees on its top. Mentioning a historic record about a scenic beauty called Hakso Rock, he asked the guide whether this was the famous Rock.

The guide answered that Hakso Rock was in the historic record but not yet found.

The Chairman nodded his head in assent and said that as an uncommon beauty in Mt. Myohyang such a beautiful and exquisite spot must have had its name suitable to its beauty. And he gave instructions to carry out historical identification on it.

Hakso Rock meant the place where the cranes built nests.

Afterwards the historians further studied the historic documents and scientifically proved that the spot found out by the Chairman was Hakso Rock of Mt. Myohyang which had been noted in the past.
