A rare occurrence
One day in September Juche 81 (1992), an old man working at the catering agency in Kaesong City visited the relevant organ to introduce himself as descendant of the royal family and take out the genealogy of Wang Kon clan.
Genealogy is a history book of a family that systematically documented the lineage of his family starting from the founder descending generation after generation. The genealogy is generally written in detail from the foundations the names, courtesy names, nom de plumes, posthumous names and other pseudonyms of family members belonging to the same generation of the clan as well as their birthdays, dates of death, brief careers, official ranks and grave places. Thus, the history and the career of the family can be easily understood by reading them.
In the past the genealogy of the ordinary people was written by the relevant family member and the one of the royal family by the central government office called Jongbusi.
The old man told frankly about the secret that he kept for many years.
After Ri Song Gye had overthrown Koryo Dynasty and became the king in 1392, there was bloody massacre against the royal family of Wang’s clan. One of the family members made a narrow escape from the capital Songdo and changed his name and hid himself in deep valleys afterwards, but he kept the genealogy safely for generations at the cost of their lives. In the meantime the genealogical information was added and published on several occasions. The first edition was published in 1798 and added to republish in 1850 and 1881, and was made in full revision and supplementation in Juche 7 (1918).
After the liberation and the war, being embraced in the bosom of the Republic, they still hid that they were the descendants of the feudal king’s family.

They shed grateful tears for a few nights and decided to present the President with the genealogy and the royal seal of the king which were kept safely for hundreds of years. Thus the old man came to the relevant organ to give the genealogies.
The President, who had been reported on the fact, said that really special deeds are done because we are living in a prosperous age and looked at the royal genealogy and the royal seal.
Looking carefully at the genealogy, the president saw the portrait of Wang Kon and laughed broadly at him, saying that he was very handsome. He ensured that the genealogy of the Kaesong Wang Clan and the Royal Seal of Wang Kon were kept in good esteem and showed great benevolence to the descendants of Wang Kon who presented them.
The appearance of the genealogy of Kaesong Wang Clan was a legendary tale of the noble patriotic love and virtue of the President who valued the proud history and cultural heritage of the nation and regarded them as the pride of the nation.
