Korean tiger of Mt Paektu
Korean tiger is an animal widely known to the world for it is brave and handsome.
Her body is 150~180cm long, her tail is 90~100cm long and she weighs 150~200kg.
She is the largest among the felines.
She has a big head and broad face, and her ears are short and round. She has robust legs and sharp hook claws.
On both cheeks a long beard is greatly flanked and at the center of the forehead there is a black pattern of “็” shape. The fur is dense and on the dorsal there is sharp yellow background with black stripes.
Korean tiger lives in the thick forests of highland, resting in natural cave or shrubs in the daylight and hunts in early evening and dawn.
Her prey is mainly boar, roe, deer, musk deer, wolf and so on.
She breeds 2 or 3 cubs in March to April every 2 or 3 years.
The Korean tiger of Mt Paektu, registered as Natural Monument No. 357, lives in the extremely limited area of the highlands in the northern part of our country.
Korean tiger is an international special protected animal.
