Patriots’ deeds in enriching national cultural heritage
With the desire to conscientiously uphold the Party’s will to enrich the treasure house of national cultural heritage, Kim Su Nam, a caretaker of Hapiro Hermitage of Myohyangsan History Museum, Jin Chol, an officer of the Security Department of Wonsan City in Kangwon Province, and Ri Chol Myong, a worker of the Pyongyang Construction Committee found out the gold and silver, and the gilt bronze triads and donated them to the country.
Kim Su Nam, who has been devoting patriotic mind to the preservation and management of historic sites in Mt Myohyang with his wife for years, discovered the gold and silver Bhaisajyaguru Triad in the crevice on the summit of Chonthae Peak.
Working in the sector for national cultural heritage protection, he knows well about the importance of historic remains than any other else, therefore he sent Buddha to the National Authority for the Protection of Cultural Heritage following relevant procedures as soon as the discovery.
Bearing noble civil duties Jin Chol, an officer of Security Department of Wonsan City in Kangwon Province, Ri Chol Myong, a worker of Pyongyang Construction Commission sent the gilt-bronze Amitabha Triad to the unit concerned that were found out in Naekumgang-ri, Kumgang County in Kangwon Province.
The Non-permanent Tangible Cultural Heritage Evaluation Committee and the Archaeology Society of the DPRK, on the basis of scientific analysis and documentation in various aspects, estimated that the gold and silver Bhaisajyaguru Triad and the gilt-bronze Amitabha Triad were of national value as genuine relics of Koryo period.
Those triads found out in Mt Myohyang and Mt Kumgang are highly qualified relics that have elaborated the details in a crafty manner in conformity with the characteristics of miniature image and are of great significance in the study of cultural development of the first unified country of Korean nation.
