The lunar New Year’s Day is the first of the New Year.
So people enjoy this day with the new hope and feeling.
In the old records, this was called “Sesu” or “Wondan” meaning the beginning of the year.
Such expressions contain the following meaning- “the First of one year”. The New Year’s Day has its origin in the ancient time.

Since the old times there has been the saying “farmer busy in May, free in August”, which means that the farmer work hard in spring and summer in the field and enjoy the free time, looking at much crop in the field and many kinds of fragrant fruits in the mountains in the lunar August.

Our staple food is boiled rice. Our people have tried to cook the rice well. Our ancestors’ good rice cooking technology has been known to the neighboring countries since the old times.
Chinese people under the ch’ing dynasty told as follows: “Korean people cook the rice well.”

-From the old times, our people liked to eat the boiled rice wrapped in leaves of vegetables such as lettuce, leopard plant and so on.
Among them, the lettuce-wrapped rice is one of vegetable foods which have their origin in Koguryo period.

Our people created our styled dinner table preparation form long ago and have inherited it.
This form has the certain formality to provide the people with the convenience. There are the several kinds according to the number of dishes on the table.
