National Children’s Paduk Competition and National Paduk Amateur’s Competition were held
National Children’s Paduk (Korean checkers) Competition and National Paduk Amateur’s Competition were held from June 20 to June 27, 2019 in the Taekwon-do Palace situated in Pyongyang, DPR Korea.
270 children and 90 amateurs selected from the provincial competitions participated in the competition. The participants were divided into first, second and third classes by ages and the competition was held in the mode of men and women’s singles, mixed doubles and team event.
In competitions, the players detected the opponent’s weakness immediately and using various methods displayed their ability to the full extent.
In the National Children’s Paduk Competition and the National Paduk Amateur’s Competition, Pyongyang City won the first place in the overall result each.
Furthermore, South Phyongan Province and North Hwanghae Province won the second and the third place in the National Children’s Paduk Competition and South Phyongan Province won the second place in the National Paduk Amateur’s Competition and North Phyongan Province and South Hamgyong Province won the third place.
Championship Cup and the certificate of merit were awarded to the excellent players and teams.
In the National Children’s Paduk Competition and the National Paduk Amateur’s Competition, the skills which were acquired by the popularization of Paduk and by making it a part of daily life were displayed and it was a meaningful occasion in which the national pride and self-confidence were demonstrated.
