Kwangphung Pavilion

It is a historical relic located in the township of Hongwon County.

It is a two-storey pavilion with three bays (8.7 metres) on the façade and one bay (4.3 metres) on the flanks. It stands on a high embankment on which tapering pillars support the building.

The pillars are crowned with simple brackets and the garret on the second floor is provided with railings.

The pavilion was the gate tower of Hongwon Confucian school. Like other Confucian schools, the school had several buildings, but now this pavilion alone remains.

Kwangphung Pavilion shows the Korean ancestors’ developed architecture and artistic skills.
