National Foundation Day was commemorated with an event in front of the Mausoleum of King Tangun on October 3.

   Present there were Kang Yun Sok, vice-chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK, Kim Myong Hun, vice-premier of the Cabinet, officials of the National Authority for the Protection of Cultural Heritage (NAPCH), officials concerned and the working people in the capital city of Pyongyang.

   First there was a memorial service for Tangun.

   Hwang Kwang Il, director –general of the NAPCH, made a commemorative report.

   Saying that this year marked the 30^th anniversary of the reconstruction of the Mausoleum of King Tangun into a monumental edifice in the era of the Workers’ Party, he praised President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il as the peerless patriots and great sages who glorified the time-honoured history and tradition of the Korean nation.

   Thanks to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the 5 000-year-long history of the nation and precious cultural heritage are shedding more brilliant rays along with the era of our state-first principle, he added.

   He called on all people to fulfil their responsibilities and duties they have assumed before the times and the revolution in accomplishing the sacred cause to bring about the comprehensive development and eternal prosperity of the country, true to the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is ushering in an eye-opening heyday in all fields of state building with his outstanding ideology and gigantic revolutionary practice.
