The bronze circus ornament is a relic from the Jang-ri Dolmen, Sangwon County, North Hwanghae Province.

   This ornament depicts two acrobats who play tricks on two rings to balance themselves in the state of holding one arm of each and tying one leg of each.

   In addition, two bronze bells were unearthed together in the dolmen. The discovery of the bells which are a sound instrument together with the ornament suggests that the circus of Ancient Joson was on a high level combined with musical accompaniment.

   And the circus ornament recalling refined and dynamic dance rhythms shows that the acrobats’ uniforms are not casual but much light and convenient, suiting the energetic and physical acrobatics.

   The round rings that are held in hands or stood on by the acrobats stand for the props specially made for circus performance.

   The bronze acrobatic ornament is a precious relic to intuitively show the advanced bronze casting technique as well as the fine acrobatics of our country in ancient times.
