Sinphyong Kumgang

   Sinphyong Kumgang is a scenic beauty in Phyonghwa-ri and Saengyang-ri, Sinphyong County, North Hwanghae Province.

   Located in the Ahobiryong range running down to the central part of our country, it is well-known for its landscape with fantastic rocks and waterfalls, and for its abundance of local products, so called small Mt Kumgang.

   As every scenic spot has its own peculiarities, so Sinphyong Kumgang is characterised by the scenery of the valleys.

   It is distinguished from others for its freshness and ecstasies in the exotic view of the narrow valleys.

   Especially, the clear water running through the valleys all the year around develops deep emotional feelings, which is rare to find in any other places.

   Various landscapes and sights along Jinju Valley, Kumgang Valley and Chongsokjong Valley, diverse sizes and shapes of waterfalls and ponds, and woods formed in tiers along the cliffs add beauty to the superb scenery of the valleys.

   Sinphyong Kumgang boasts a variety of flora and fauna as well as natural scenery.

   The coniferous trees like pine and larch, broad-leaved trees like oak and maple, many kinds of shrubs, flowering and fruit trees, medicinal herbs, wild vegetables, coral fungi, agaric and songi mushrooms show diverse flora of the area.

   There are also various kinds of animals and birds such as bears, wild boars, roe deer, woodpeckers, owls, eagles, etc.

   Along its valley flows a clear Tohwa Stream, where many fishes like carps, goldfishes and chars swim.

   Sinphyong Kumgang, being proud of its beautiful mountain scenery, greatly contributes to the cultural and emotional life of our people.
