Mausoleum of King Kyonghyo is an excellent historic cultural relic

On August 22, Juche 57 (1968), Chairman Kim Jong Il visited the Mausoleum of King Kyonghyo during the inspection of the historical relics of Kaesong area.

While looking around the tomb, he said that it was an old mausoleum of King Kyonghyo, the 31st King of Koryo, and his wife, and that it was built in a large scale with fine stone statues, showing that the sculpture was developed in the period of Koryo.

Then he stopped in front of the stone statues of civil and military officers and after a deep thought he said that it seemed like King Kyonghyo underrated military officers than civil officers as the stone statues of the military officers were placed one step below the civil officers, not in the same level. He continued that military officers should not be underrated but they should be equally rated.

The Chairman said that although the Mausoleum of King Kyonghyo was a mausoleum of a king, it was a precious historical and cultural relic permeated with the talents of Korean people at the time, and stressed that we should preserve it in original state to hand it down to the younger generations and thus arm them with the patriotic ideology and increase their national pride.
