New elements have been registered on the State and Local Inventories of Intangible Cultural Heritage
Amidst the continuous activities for identification, conservation and promotion of cultural properties representing the wisdom and talents of our people, four elements have been recently registered on the State and Local Inventories of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Legends of Moran Hill and Mt Myohyang, the old narrative literature showing the lofty patriotic spirits and beautiful sentiments of our people associated with the scenic beauties, were registered as the state-level intangible cultural heritage.
The legends were composed with the old tales such as General Ulmil, Moonlit night of Chongryu Pavilion, Origin of Suno Valley, Sonyu Hill and Hae Mo Su.
The custom of wedding ceremony, one of the traditional rites, demonstrates particular emotion and morality and beautiful customs of our people related with the processes, costume and table setting, thereby it was also registered as a state-level intangible cultural heritage element.
In addition, Haeju Kyoban (rice mixed with spices, vegetables, meat, etc), a speciality of South Hwanghae Province, was inscribed as a local-level intangible cultural heritage. It proves a dietary tradition of our people who have made an effective use of various kinds of local ingredients for their dietary life.
The inscription of the new intangible cultural heritage is attributable to the state policy for protection of national heritage which is adhering to and enriching the history and traditions of our nation.
