Traditional Food: Noodles Garnished with Sliced Raw Fish

From olden times, Koreans liked to eat noodles. Noodles are long, thin strips of cereal flour-and-water dough. They are prepared by boiling and putting into soup with some garnishes. The noodles garnished with sliced raw fish were particularly favoured by the people in coastal areas. The noodles spiced with sliced raw fish are as tasty as fish and digest well. For the fish to be sliced, pollack is mostly used as its flesh is white and has little bones. The food was inscribed on the national intangible cultural heritage list in August 2025.
