A deciduous tree, it grows up to 15-20 metres. It occurs in the middle and southern parts of Korea including Pyongyang.

Its fruits, leaves and bark contain a rubber-like material. If this material is added to making tyres, the tyres last long, and it helps decrease the rate of fuel consumption.

Recently, the State Academy of Sciences has achieved many successes in its research for extracting rubber and oil from its fruits and leaves.
