The area of Mt Paektu in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was registered as a global geopark on April 10, 2025, at the 221st meeting of the Executive Board of UNESCO held in Paris, France.

The registration has brought to further highlight the geological significance and tourist value of the mountain.
