Ginkgo Tree at the Sangwon Hermitage

The ginkgo tree, designated as a living monument, is in the front yard of the Sangwon Hermitage in the Pohyon Temple in Mt Myohyang. The staminate tree stands beside the Myohyangsan pine tree, another living monument. It is told that around 1895 a monk in this hermitage planted its sapling and cultivated it. The tree is 20.3m tall and 2.2m round at the neck of its root. This tree grows at the highest location among the trees of its kind in the DPRK.
