From of old, the Korean people have grouped scenic spots by the number of eight. Typical of them are the eight scenic spots in Korea, the eight scenic spots in Kwandong and the eight scenic spots in Kwanso. The eight scenic spots in Korea, including Mt Paektu, Pyongyang, Mt Kumgang, Mt Myohyang and Pujon Plateau, have been counted the best. The eight scenic spots in Kwandong include those on the east coast and those in Kwanso, in the northwestern region.
