Youth Literature Prize Awarded to a Disabled Man
Most recently, a youth literature prize was awarded to the lyric poem My Citizenship Certificate written by Jong Song Gil, a man with physical disabilities in Waudo District of Nampho.
As a bedridden child with a natural aptitude for the literature, he had wanted to write poems reflecting the proud reality of a large harmonious socialist family where people help each other as their own flesh and blood.
One day, writers of the Nampho City Committee of the Writers Union of Korea called at his house. Noting that under our socialist system anyone, once determined, can bring into full bloom his talent and that they would give as much help as they could, they encouraged him to write poems.
Thanks to their sincere assistance, his literary talent developed as the days went by. Finally, he could write a lyric poem, titled, My Citizenship Certificate, reflecting his pride and self-confidence in being a citizen of the strongest and great country.
He still makes strenuous efforts to create literary works with a determination to repay the love and trust of the Workers` Party of Korea and the socialist system that care more for sick and wounded persons and bestow warm affection on them.
