Sincere Efforts of a Teacher
Kim Ryon Ju is a teacher of Sinsong Primary School in Kwail County, South Hwanghae Province, who discharges her duty with pure conscience and sincerity, true to the educational policy of the Workers` Party of Korea.
The following happened on April 1 two years back when the opening ceremony of the school took place in the playground.
While pinning a flower on the chests of pupils in new uniforms, she came across Ri Jong Do, a boy with physical disabilities who could hardly stand without the support of his grandmother.
She could not sleep that night, recollecting a story carried on Rodong Sinmun about a teacher who had devoted herself to help a pupil with hearing and speaking impairments for over a decade recover from the disabilities.
Later, she volunteered to take under her charge three pupils with disabilities who were admitted to the school in the wake of the boy.
She devoted herself for them, carrying them on her back to the school and hospital.
As the four pupils wrote in their composition and diaries that she was like their mother, she was their mother with warm affection before a teacher.
She is still devoting herself to them with an awareness that there should never be a child living in gloom, under the benefits of the Workers` Party of Korea’s policy of protecting the rights of persons with disabilities.
