The inter-Korean relations are now in a very critical situation unprecedented in history. Why? It is entirely attributable to the hysteric manoeuvres of the ruling forces in south Korea against the fellow countrymen in the north.

Lee Myung Bak-led conservatives, from the beginning of their ruling, fixed the “denuclearization, open door and 3 000 dollars” as their “north policy” and flatly denied the north-south joint declarations.

The historic June 15 2000 Joint Declaration and the October 4 2007 Declaration, adopted at the north-south summit talks held in an effort to put an end to the nation’s history of division lasting for over half a century, are the general programme and milestone to achieve national reunification in the new century. As soon as the declarations were made public, they were unanimously supported and welcomed by all the Korean people and the rest of the world. The historic joint declarations brought a spring of reconciliation to the Korean peninsula that had been frozen hard with antagonism and confrontation, and there took place such exciting events as the reconnection of the severed veins of the nation.

All the things, however, were wrecked by Lee and his party after their coming into power. Slandering the June 15 Joint Declaration and the October 4 Declaration as the “products of the north’s strategy to the south” and blaspheming “by our nation itself,” the common ideal of the nation for reunification, as “exclusive nationalism,” they overtly announced the break of the north-south relations and the confrontation between both sides. They did not fulfil even a single item of the declarations and destroyed all the successes achieved in the June 15 era.

Not content with this, they brutally suppressed the people related with the adoption of the declarations and their supporters, and persecuted and drove to death even a former president of south Korea who had signed a joint declaration. The denial and violation of the declarations meant the overall denial of the north-south relations and the defiance of the nation’s desire for reunification.

The once brisk dialogues and cooperation projects were all stopped. Lee and his clique, prattling that “we will not have a dialogue led by the north,” “it is tolerable to stop the south-north dialogue for five years” and “we are prepared to freeze the south-north relations until the end of our tenure,” flatly rejected dialogues and viciously ridiculed and profaned the DPRK’s sincere efforts for dialogue.

Saying that “economic cooperation is impossible with nukes overhead,” “what was scooped out to the north for the past decade has turned into nukes and missiles” and “never think that the south-north relations will improve simply through cooperation,” they bolted the north-south cooperation, advocating unreasonable “four principles for the work with the north.”

After quarrelling about the tour to Mt. Kumgang while saying something or other about someone’s “financial source,” they unilaterally stopped the tour on the pretext of a tourist incident caused by their carelessness.

They also attempted to disrupt the business in the Kaesong industrial zone under the pretext that “it is helpful to the north,” but in vain. Then they drastically cut the activities in the zone by oppressing the relevant companies and limiting the entry of materials, persons and vehicles to the zone.

Owing to the puppet clique’s manoeuvres to disrupt the cooperation, the south Korean companies have suffered the loss of more than ten and several billion dollars for five years, a number of companies have gone bankrupt and many people lost their livelihood and took their lives.

The traitors have viciously hampered the solving of humanitarian problems, using the noble humanitarian work of the Red Cross for their evil political purpose. Calling for “transparency” in the exchange of humanitarian materials between the north and the south and arguing that the materials were used for the north’s “exclusive military use,” they did not allow even a single grain of rice and a single gram of cement to be given to the north.

On the other hand, they more undisguisedly lured and kidnapped citizens of the DPRK in groups. From June 15, 2000 to 2007, reunions of separated family members and relatives between the north and the south took place several times a year. For the last five years since the puppet clique’s assumption of power there have been such reunions only two times. This clearly shows how insincerely they have regarded the humanitarian work.

In order to reunify the nation peacefully, the north and the south should recognize and respect each other’s idea and system and not pursue confrontation between social systems. Long ago, both sides confirmed the truth by adopting the three principles of national reunification, and they made it public to the world through the historic June 15 Joint Declaration. However, the puppet clique rejected these fundamental principles to be observed in working for national reunification and north-south relations and went more berserk over manoeuvres for confrontation, arguing for “unification under the liberal democratic system,” “German-style unification” and “emergency.” In particular, they debased the supreme dignity of the north, slandered the best socialist system of the north and made absurd allegations about human rights practices in the north, saying that “we can never live with the north in the bright world,” “give up the simple idea that the northerners are the fellow countrymen” and “we should deal with the residents of the north and their government separately.”

Peace is the unanimous desire of the Korean nation and the fundamental prerequisite and precondition for peaceful reunification of the nation.

However, the puppet traitors took no account of peaceful reunification from the beginning and were engrossed in war manoeuvres to invade the north. While in power, they, in collusion with the US, newly supplemented and completed such war plans to invade the north as OPLAN 5027 and OPLAN 5029 and more frantically staged large-scale war exercises such as the Key Resolve, the Foal Eagle and the Ulji Freedom Guardian in an attempt to translate the plans into reality. In addition, they brought the situation in the Korean peninsula to the brink of war by causing extralarge-scale provocative incidents including the Cheonan incident and the Yonphyong Island artillery firing. Their reckless war exercises unprecedentedly aggravated the military tension in the Korean peninsula and further augmented the danger of war there.

As mentioned above, the traitor Lee’s crimes against the nation and reunification are the highest treason to be cursed and punished from generation to generation.

The Korean nation will neither tolerate the traitor’s anti-reunification sins nor fail to punish him severely.
